BS 8485:2015 which superseded BS 8485:2007 has now been further updated with the introduction of BS 8485:2015+A1:2019.
BS 8485:2015+A1:2019 is an essential guide in many areas of the building industry including architects, engineers and contractors as well as ground gas protection membrane manufacturers and suppliers like ourselves.
The updated guidelines are focused on the inclusion of recommendations as to revising recommendations. Revisions and updates include changes to CS points values by building type (Table 4), amendments to Table 5 in relation to basements, modifications in Table 7 and Annex C in relation to gas protection membranes and selection thereof, to name a few.
Delta Membrane Systems Limited has amend our Ground Gas Protection training courses to reflect these new updates within the standards and their recommendations.
Our Ground Gas Protection Systems are fully compliant to BS 8485:2015+A1:2019.
As every project is unique in terms of size, construction type, building use and ground gas protection system. It is recommended that every design team incorporates a suitably competent person with appropriate Ground Gas Protection knowledge at the earliest phase of the project in order that an integrated solution is created.
British Standards are the standards produced by the BSI Group which is incorporated under a Royal Charter (and which is formally designated as the National Standards Body (NSB) for the UK). The BSI Group produces British Standards under the authority of the Charter.
There are currently over 30,000 standards used within the UK. A standard is an agreed way of doing something. It could be about making a product, managing a process, delivering a service or supplying materials – standards can cover a huge range of activities undertaken by organizations and used by their customers.
Standards are knowledge. They are powerful tools that can help drive innovation and increase productivity. They can make organizations more successful and people’s everyday lives easier, safer and healthier.
