Guarantees, Insurance and Warranties

A warranty is a type of guarantee offered by a manufacturer or similar party regarding the condition of a product.  It also refers to the terms and situations in which repairs and/or exchanges will be made if the product does not function as originally described or intended.

All Delta products are supplied with product-only warranty which covers a period of time from the date of purchase.  Delta’s product-only warranty covers only the product if a problem were to arise due to that product being defective.  Delta’s product warranty excludes defects that result from poor design, incorrect specification, workmanship and/or incorrect installation of the product.

Warranties typically only apply to products that have not been altered or modified after they were purchased.

When a Delta Registered Installer installs your waterproofing system, they will provide you with a Product Guarantee Certificate. This is an excellent guarantee, which is issued through the Delta Registered Installer Network.  The Product Guarantee Certificate will remain with the property where the waterproofing system is installed.  Delta’s Type C membranes are offered with a 30-year Product Guarantee, with Delta Roof Guard and Koster products having a 10-year Product Guarantee.

When you arrange to have a new waterproofing system installed to your property you need to be sure that you are well protected from any potential problems which may occur.  The installing contractors will normally provide a guarantee for their structural waterproofing work which covers a period of time.  This guarantee should be supported by the installing contractor’s insurance company and covers defects in design and installation of the waterproofing system.

An insurance policy which covers the original guarantee provided by an installer is an Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG).  An IBG provides clients/homeowners with additional peace of mind in the unlikely event that a company ceases to trade (for whatever reason).  Claims under a IBG can be made under the terms of the original guarantee.

Latent Defects Insurance (commonly referred to as a structural warranty) primarily is a form of insurance that provides indemnity against the costs incurred in rectifying defects that manifest within a structure after practical completion.  Faults in the building’s design or construction or by faulty materials are often covered under Latent Defects Insurance.

Professional indemnity (PI) insurance is designed to protect business owners, freelancers and self-employed professionals.  PI insurance isn’t a legal requirement, and not all businesses will offer this type of cover.  However, it’s a popular choice with Delta Registered Installers offering professional waterproofing services.

Delta Membranes System Limited has partnered with PHL Insurance Brokers to offer a comprehensive Professional Indemnity (PI) scheme for existing and prospective Delta Registered Installers.

Delta Registered Pump Servicing Network

Sump pump systems are a critical part of a Type C Drained protection systems and therefore must be maintained. We recommend a qualified pump engineer examines and services the pump equipment every 12 months.  Pumps running frequently due to a higher water table, water drainage, or weather conditions should be serviced more frequently (every 3-6 months) subject to levels of water ingress.

Sump pumps, being mechanical devices, may fail if not maintained which could lead to a flooded basement and costly repairs. Regular servicing of sump pumps will improve efficiency and extend the life of the pumps.

All sump pumps will require commissioning along with regular maintenance and servicing.  All Delta pump systems can be commissioned, maintained and serviced by a Delta Registered Pump Servicing provider or installing contractor.

Delta Registered Pump Servicing Network provider can offer a 5-year extended warranty period on Delta Pumps (subject to terms and conditions).  Extended warranties are a way of getting extra protection for Delta Pumps in addition to the standard warranty offered.

Delta Registered Pump Servicing Network providers will register the Delta Pump for an Extended Manufacturer’s Warranty.
