The Best Design Philosophy

A Waterproofing Designer’s philosophy defines what they wish to accomplish in the design of their waterproofing system and which principles they will use to do so. Identifying a robust and suitable design philosophy is an important aspect when designing a continuous system as this will not only directly impact in how users install the system but also in future maintenance which will directly impact on the property owner.

Technical drawings are a necessity for successful design and installation.  It’s easy to understand from the development stages how a waterproofing design will function and most of us as familiar with symbols, units of measurements, natation of systems and perspectives.  These drawings are representations of a final design (the end-product).

For many homeowners waterproofing is a mystery.  It is a niche, unseen element required for any below ground structure.

BS8102:2009 states “……. waterproofing measures should be designed on the basis of water to the full height of the retained ground at some time during the structure’s life….”
