BS 8485:2015+A1:2019 provides guidelines for designing protective measures against methane and carbon dioxide ground gases in new buildings and outlines strategies for creating specifications that ensure ground gas protection. With BS 8102:2022 ‘Protection of Below Ground Structures Against Water Ingress’ is a code of practice providing recommendations and guidance for safeguarding underground structures from water penetration.

The Scope of the project was to provide a waterproofing solution to a newly constructed lift pit for a four-story residential block. Elevators in buildings carry thousands of people yearly, ensuring safe transport to their floors. These elevator cabs operate efficiently to keep the whole system running smoothly.  The elevator pit (lift pit) is a crucial part of the lift that ensures safety in case of an accident and makes it easier for technicians to inspect, repair, and maintain its various parts.  A lift pit is a small space at the bottom of a elevator shaft that supports the lift car and its mechanical systems, similar to a basement.

The Former Magistrates’ Court is set to undergo a significant transformation, becoming a vibrant centre for cultural and creative endeavours. The new design will incorporate diverse workspaces and production areas to accommodate a variety of creative industries. The evolution of this site will not only involve the establishment of innovative working environments but also foster community interaction through entertainment events and social gatherings. The building, steeped in 143 years of history, has stood unoccupied for the last two decades. This extensive period of vacancy has added another layer to renovation approaches.

The scope of this project was to offer a waterproofing solution to a new build high-end property, designed with meticulous attention to detail, offering unparalleled comfort and sophistication.
